President of the Republic of Mozambique oversees the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the SADC’s new MCS Centre.

April 2024 – Per Erik Bergh (CEO and Managing Director), travelled to Maputo, Mozambique to attend the officially groundbreaking ceremony for the SADC Regional Fisheries Monitoring, Control Surveillance Coordination Centre (MCSCC). The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by His Excellency Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique.

The purpose of the MCSCC is to support and facilitate the realisation of commitments, including the 2001 SADC Protocol on Fisheries and the 2008 SADC Statement of Commitment to Combat IUU Fishing through the MCSCC. 

The groundbreaking of the MCSCC will fast track all the activities towards the centre.
